· En inglés se utilizan estas tres expresiones temporales, con matices ligeramente diferentes.
· "By the time" significa no más tarde de la hora señalada:
You have to be here by 6 o'clock. |
Tienes que estar aquí no más tarde de las 6 en punto |
The train will arrive by 10:30. |
El tren llegará no más tarde de las 10.30 |
· "On time" significa exactamente a la hora señalada, ni antes, ni después:
The match begins at 4:30. I will be there on time. |
El partido empieza a las 4.30. Yo estaré allí puntual (llegaré a las 4.30, ni antes, ni después) |
The bus leaves at 3. I will be there on time. |
El autobús sale a las 3.00. Yo estaré allí puntual (justo a las 3.00) |
· "In time" significa con tiempo suficiente:
